Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is the daughter of British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby (born in Paris) and Chris Watson (born in Paris). As a young girl, she relocated from London to Oxfordshire to attend the Dragon School. Emma was aspired to become an actor from the age of aged six. She studied at Stagecoach Theatre Arts in Oxford which is an acting academy that offers part-time classes. At the age of ten, she took part and performed the main role in numerous Stagecoach Productions and School Plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the 2001 version to J.K. Rowling's bestselling British book began in 1999. Emma was discovered by agents via the recommendation of her Oxford teacher. After eight consecutive auditions, the producer David Heyman told Emma and fellow applicants Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint that they had been cast for the roles of the three main characters Hermione Granger Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Emma's first appearance in a film was as a part of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in the year 2001. The film is 2001's top earning film, smashing records during the opening day and the very first weekend. It was highly acclaimed by critics, as were the performances of its three new starlets. The Daily Telegraph praised Emma for her outstanding performance. Emma was awarded five nominations for her impressive performance. Later, she won the Young Artist Award in Leading Young Actress in a Film.
